Siobhan was born in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Yes, the village of Harmony is as peaceful and idyllic as the name makes it sound: that’s the problem. NOTHING EVER HAPPENS THERE. The stories and songs of the travelers who pass through and the elves who occasionally come in from the forest to trade offer tantalizing glimpses of the world beyond Harmony. It makes Siobhan restless.
She comes from an ancient line of fierce warriors: at least, that’s what the tales and legends of her people say. She was meant to FIGHT: she can feel it in her blood. Just her luck to be born into a family that, like the others of the village, decided to renounce violence and leave their kith and kin to create Harmony. Siobhan can almost feel the disapproval of her ancestors.
The day she discovers that Yanna has moved into the abandoned woodcutter’s cottage near the lake is the second happiest day of Siobhan’s life. The day she finally convinces the retired mercenary captain to teach her how to fight is the happiest. Yanna, as it happens, is fond of axes. Siobhan’s natural affinity for them convinces Yanna to overlook the fact that the girl, who must have been dropped on her head (as she is constantly telling Siobhan), always says “ass” when she means “axe,” and vice versa.
No one will admit it, of course, but Siobhan is pretty certain she knows who betrayed her to her parents. That bastard Alain has never missed an opportunity to vex her ever since she beat him in the Harvest Race. The decision to leave Harmony rather than renounce her martial ways was surprisingly easy: the doing of it, a little less so. What luck that that Dragonborn happened along when he did!
